Rosa María Menéndez López : Chemistry scientist related to material and energy.


She was born on February 12, 1956. She graduated in Organic Chemistry at the University of Oviedo in 1980. She has participed in more than thirty regional, national and European projects. She has also published more than 200 magazine articles.

Her research focuses on researching materials and energy. She has also worked in the field of biomedicine. She is the president of the Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) since November 2017. She is the first woman to preside the institution since its creation in 1937.

These are some of the awards she received throughout her career:

• 2016- “Expert Talent Award” granted by Human Age and Cinco Días. 
• 2016- “Innova Diario de León Award”. 
• 2018- She was included in the “Periodic Table of the Scientists”.
