María Antonia Blasco Marhuenda: molecular biologist


She is another of our most well-known researchers, since she heads the National Center for Oncological Research.

She is a specialist in the study of telomeres - fragments of DNA that are found at the end of chromosomes - and telomerase, an enzyme that has lately taken center stage, since its artificial stimulation could prevent the shortening of telomeres. It produces over time and thus delay the problems associated with aging.
